You didn't think that Blackstone would allow you to come here just to run amok, did you? You have the freedom to act as you wish, but if you act like the monsters that Blackstone is trying to clean itself from, a monster you will become.

Below is a table to reference the punishments that will fall upon those who commit heinous acts that make Blackstone a place worse off than it was before your character's arrival. The purpose of this system is to keep certain characters from taking too many liberties without fear of consequences.

PUNISHMENTS

If a character commits one of the above offenses they have a chance of suffering from one of the punishments below. The punishments will be handed out on a case by case basis, and if you'd like to use a possible punishment in your characters plot then we'd be happy to talk it out with you beforehand and make sure everything goes as planned. In other words, as long as it's planned out and encourages player and character interaction, your character most likely won't suffer from a punishment unless you specifically want them to.

If your character is assaulting or hurting other characters without reason too often, they will be subjected to a punishment. Remember, this is in place to keep everyone in check and although it can be used as a plot mechanism, that will always be its ultimate purpose. It's very important to the plot that characters learn that there are consequences to their actions, and this is a way to do that.

Level 1

Everything in this level can be viewed as a gift, until it's a curse.

Sight: Your characters sight is enhanced. They can see further with far more detail than other humans around them. However, the sunlight is blinding to them and will cause them physical pain every time they try to go outside before dark.

Hearing: What's that sound? Your characters ability to hear has advanced. They can hear everything around them from mice in the walls to heartbeats of those in the same room. Loud noises become crippling, and the sound of the city - or that guy who won't stop yelling two doors down - practically incapacitates them.

Strength: Your character can feel the power coursing through them. They can move large furniture with ease, they might even be able to pick up a fully grown horse if they try hard enough. Anything smaller than, say, a manhole cover shatters in their hold unless it's built to withstand that much pressure (like certain metals).

Level 2

Everything in this level makes a physical change to your character that others can see, thus marking them as dangerous or grotesque in the eyes of other player characters and NPCs.

Claws: That's right. Your character grows claws from their fingernails, long ones that are razor sharp. Hope you don't plan on wearing gloves any time soon.

Special Eyes: Your character has been given the gift of sight. They can see further than anyone else and, even better, they can see heat signatures. Bit unfortunate that this comes with a physical eye mutation, but we're sure your character can convince people that 'lizard eyes' is simply the newest trend out these days.

Fangs: Not the small kind. They're large, they're cumbersome, and sure, you can poison other beings with your bite but you can barely speak without someone laughing at you.

Level 3

The consequences found here can make your character look so foul or unapproachable that they'll be met with aggression by NPC's wherever they go.

Scales: Congratulations, your character is now covered in a layer of thick, gray scales. They look horrifying, but at least they barely feel anything when NPC's attack them on the streets out of fear.

Grotesque: Your character's face becomes twisted and distorted into something almost animal-like. Women scream, children cry... but at least they're beautiful on the inside.

Madness: Possibly the worst punishment that one can be given. Your character begins to lose their sanity (or what's left of it) and only has moments of clarity before slipping back into the maddening disarray that is their own mind.

Mod Warning

You only get one of these. If a second has to be given, removing your character from the game will be considered.

REDEMPTION

Not all hope is lost! If your character has committed an offense and is suffering from a punishment, all they need to do is redeem themselves by doing the opposite of what their original offense was. If they took a life, they need to save a life. If they assaulted someone unprovoked, they need to save someone from being assaulted.

If the original offense was committed against a player character, than the act of redemption must be for a player character as well, although not necessarily the same one.
